Porcupine Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 August 2026 · KP Studio · support@kpstudio.au
Porcupine (“the app”) is a free-market news reader by KP Studio. This policy explains what the app stores and how data is handled.
What we collect
Porcupine does not require an account and does not collect a name, email, or payment details inside the app.
- On-device preferences — theme, selected topics/regions, “more/fewer like this” taste weights, and saved story IDs are stored locally on your device (AsyncStorage).
- No tracking profile — we do not sell personal data or build advertising profiles.
Network activity
- News feeds — the app fetches public RSS/Atom feeds from third-party publishers to show headlines and short summaries. Those publishers may see standard network requests (IP address, user agent) when their feeds are loaded.
- App updates — over-the-air JavaScript updates may be delivered via Expo Application Services. See Expo’s privacy policy.
- Outbound links — opening a full story leaves the app and uses your device browser; those sites have their own policies.
Permissions
Porcupine does not request location, contacts, microphone, camera, or photo library access for core reading features.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices
- Clear app storage / uninstall to remove local preferences and saves.
- Use Settings → Reset taste to clear feed preference weights.
